Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure to support the “Toilets Making the Grade” school competitions in our schools in Khyper Pashtunkwa. I am excited about the uniqueness of this competition which addresses everyone at school and brings them together to work on solutions for challenges related to water, sanitation and hygiene. With better cleanliness and hygiene in our schools, we will learn in a healthier environment which enables to perform better! There is a direct interconnection between school attendance, health, adequate school toilets and proper handwashing. Therefore, it is so crucial to improve the sanitation and hygiene situation of our schools.
I am very enthralled by this approach which is applied in Balochistan as well. I am grateful to the Department of Education as well as for GIZ and SABAWON for its support in making the school competitions happen.
As your participation is the driver of success, I wish you good ideas and excitement during the development of your proposals and I look forward to seeing the creativity, innovativeness and teamwork in your schools.
Thank you!

Until the winter break schools approached by Sabawon can decide to participate in the TMG competition. The school management and WASH / MHM Clubs should be willing to commit to the TMG process when registering with Sabawon.

During the winter vacation the school management and the WASH teacher should already get familiar with the aims and methods of TMG. They should also plan, when and with whom to do the assessment sessions and from where to get support for possible activities. They can already think about who is responsible for filling the TMG proposal or implement activities.
After the winter break the WASH and MHM Clubs can come together, learn about TMG and start with the TMG work: the assessments, activity development, activity implementation and documentation. A template for the TMG proposal is available from Sabawon. Please note, that all participants should fill in the consent form.

On February 9th teams have to hand in their TMG Proposal.
The jury wants to see the impact of the activities that the schools are implementing and the hygiene and sanitation situation of the school. Until then schools have time to kick-off their activities. If activities are not exactly done as explained in the proposal, but adapted to the actual needs, there is no problem. The jury will hear your reasons.
The winning schools will receive their laudatio at the official TMG award ceremony.
While you make your school more pleasant and promote health, you can also win attractive prizes and showcase your achievements to the public and the school authorities.
Only schools who are offered to participate in TMG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the NGO Sabawon can be part of TMG.
